Day #19

Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.

Philippians 2:1-5

Father, help us all in our marriages to find the strength that grows from your love, and the tenderness that radiates from the Spirit of Christ who first embraced us, so that we may love each other from that place of security which we find in you, and not with any of the neediness masquerading as affection, which is the fruit of our insecurity. May we love each other just as Jesus loves – not out of self-interest, but with humility, desiring only the best for the other, that we may walk and work united in your loving purpose for us together.

Amen.
