Day #21
Lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future.
Ephesians 4:1-4
Lord, we pray for marriages, that husbands and wives might have a strong sense of your calling and purpose, and that we may live lives worthy of your call. May we humbly and gently bear with each other, for we each have our weaknesses and irritating ways which can annoy our spouses, especially after many years together. Help us to recognise where we need to change, but may we have the patience to give our partners room for you to transform them and not try to do it all ourselves. May we be strengthened as we seek to remain united in purpose, and united in spirit – through the transforming presence of the Spirit of Christ in us, binding us together in your peace. One body, one Spirit, one hope for the future.
