I am my beloved’s, and his desire is for me. Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the fields, and lodge in the villages; let us go out early to the vineyards, and see whether the vines have budded, whether the grape blossoms have opened and the pomegranates are in bloom. There I will give you my love.
Song of Solomon 7:10-12
Father, we pray for busy couples, distracted by the vicissitudes of their frantic lives; may they find spaces in which to share quality time together – time to get away, time to savour candle-lit dinners free from the anxious clamour of mobile devices, time to watch sunsets on warm sandy beaches, time to think, time to be with each other. And if that seems impossible this week, may husbands and wives at least enjoy meaningful moments of connection, even if only between the cracks in the chaos.
